Morning Market

What a re we going to do today??? well I was wondering if  you are interested to know about Nat  - it's a Thai word for Pasar Sehari  / morning market ) and it' s only takes about 4 minutes from my village. Morning market  operates on Sunday, started early in the morning and finish around 12.00 in the afternoon . Well..there are so many things that you can find here, people from other village also comes here to buy  fruits, fish, vegetables, traditional food (kuih) , clothes and as for me I love to buy ULAM . WHAT IS ULAM ? Looks like I have to answer the question by myself :- Ulam is a type of vegetable dish that is consumed fresh and raw . It is eaten with rice and other dishes as an appetizer and ulam is high in vitamin and minerals and it has anti bacterial and anti oxidant properties.

Petai
My Favourite Ulam Petai...nyum nyum!!!..You can eat raw or cook , its all up to you. Its contains extremely high potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to those who have a blood pressure. Petai also high in fiber and it helps to restore normal bowel action. Just don't eat to much or you may end up in the rest room for a very long hours..:-)

Peria Katak (BitterGourd / Bitter Melon )

Soursop  (Durian Belanda)

Soursop flesh is white, soft and very juicy and has a delicous sweet sour taste. Embedded in the flesh are a large number of dark brown seeds. When nearly ripe, the fruit will have to be picked because if it's allowed to fall, it will be smashed. It will take a few days to fully ripen.
well well durian durian!!! some people love it and some people dont' and I am sorry to say that I am not durian's fan ....but  I might consider eating durian with glutinous rice , steamed with coconut milk and served with ripened durian. Anyway  I would rather choose durian jam  to be eaten with bread or with glutinous rice, because the smell of durian is not so strong when we make it as a jam.

HOW TO MAKE DURIAN JAM

1 cup of sugar
2 cups of coconut milk
Enough pulp ( ripened durian flesh)
2 pandan leaves ( tied )
Salt to taste

Combine all ingredients in saucepan and cook over moderate heat until it thickens. Eat with glutinous rice or bread.

Pandan Leaves

In this market you can also find species of marine life such as king crab (horseshoe crab) , this animal is a marine arthropod body shape similar to the steelhelmet troops and has a long tail and sharp and they also have an amazing immune system. Only certain parts can be eaten and those who really knows how to cook can prepare the dishes because its can somehow provide the sense of discomfort (dizziness). Some people say that the belangkas or horseshoe eggs is delicious. I have tried once but i could never tell how its taste like because i was very young at that time. So How does it taste Like?? Does anyone know??
